Somnus launches CBN-based sleep aid alternative

salazar

Somnus is launching a sleep aid alternative using a cannabinoid purported to offer more calming properties than CBD to help consumers sleep. The Denver-based company is launching a sleep-aid alternative that contains cannabinol, or CBN.

CBN, a cannabinoid that is similar to CBD, is said to bind directly to the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the nervous system, which gives it stronger calming properties, according to the company. Somnus' sleep aid alternative is available in a 30-count gummy bottle, 5-count gummy packs, a 30-dose tincture bottle and a 30-count gelcap bottle.

Made without the use of THC, alcohol or melatonin, the product is derived from hemp and aims to provide users with a restful night’s sleep without the morning grogginess, the company said.

Somnus’ sleep-aid alternative, which is for those over the age of 18 years old, had its soft launch during the 2020 X Games with several of its sponsored athletes. It was named the official sleep aid of the GoPro Mountain Games.
