Functional Remedies names Waldstein to lead ops

salazar

Functional Remedies has a new executive leading its operations. The Superior, Colo.-based company has named Asa Waldstein senior vice president of operations, overseeing its inventory control, contract manufacturers, extraction, manufacturing and planning.

“Asa is a terrific addition to our already strong executive team,” said Andrew Campbell, CEO of Functional Remedies. “He brings a wealth of industry knowledge from the dietary supplements space, along with structural experience, that will help take Functional Remedies to the next level.”

Waldstein joins the company from Advanced Extraction, where he was vice president of operations and regulatory affairs. He has 15 years of experience in streamlining operations and growing businesses, having previously served as COO of Quicksilver Scientific, where he oversaw the company’s logistical partnership with Tony Robbins. He also has worked as a general manager at Empirical Labs.

“I’ve seen a lot of similarities between what was going on in the early 2000s with supplements and what's happening now in hemp with regulations,” Waldstein said. “What drew me to Functional Remedies is their standards for quality and compliance — they’re following all the rules. Not only that, but their products are exceptional, the executive team has a passion for natural healing and I admire the way they market their products in an ethical and effective way that focuses on educating consumers.”

Waldstein also is a certified clinical herbalist whose work has largely combined clinical herbalism, bioavailable nutrient delivery and scientific substantiation, the company said. He currently serves as chair of the American Herbal Products Association’s cannabis committee, and sits on the organization’s government relations and sustainability committees. Waldstein is a member of the American Herbalist Guild and hosts the Boulder Hemp-CBD Education and Networking Series.
